Introduction

DBC Group Head QuartersOceanglobe Container Services (India) Pvt. Ltd. - OGCS - is a part of one of the leading shipping group companies, one that covers activities ranging from Shipping Agencies, Port Managing, Stevedoring, Transports, Cranes, Containers Storage / Repair / Maintenance of Reefer and Tank Containers (IMO - 1, 2, 5 & 7), Manufacturing of unfired pressure vessels used for carrying LPG, Ammonia, CO2, Repair / Maintenance of Ships Engine Room, Deck & Offshore Oil Rigs (Piping and Structural jobs).

The DBC Group is a family-run enterprise. The letters DBC stand for the founder of the group - Darabshaw Bomanji Cursetjee Dubash who founded the Group in 1929. The Dubash family has, however, been involved in the shipping arena since 1810 and is one of India's oldest business families. The evolution of the Group mirrors that of the shipping industry in India.

OGCS was created to undertake the cleaning, testing, repair and refurbishment of all types of marine containers, mainly reefer and tank containers used for carrying perishable and chemical cargo. In 1987, the Company diversified into manufacture of un-fired pressure vessels under a permanent license from the Chief Controller of Explosives, Nagpur.

The Company also formed a joint venture with Smith Holland, a Rotterdam based company, to service all types of refrigeration machinery fitted on board ships as well as in reefer containers used for carrying perishable cargo.

The Company further diversified into petrochemical works, mainly for ONGC offshore projects.

We have satisfactorily completed works such as fabrication and renewal of pipelines amongst other technically specific work on various rigs including Sagar Jyoti, Sagar Kiran, Sagar Pragati, Sagar Uday, Sagar Samrat, Sagar Bhushan, etc. We had also undertaken lay off repair jobs of ONGC off-shore stimulation vessel Samudhra Nidhi.

We also have been approved by Hindustan Shipyard Limited as their approved contractors for repair jobs onboard ships, offshore rigs, platforms and new constructions.

We have also carried out major hull plate & piping renewal job onboard ONGC rigs such as Sagar Pragathi in dry dock and also undertaken repair and maintenance of Horten sphere used for storing LPG at ONGC Hazira under Engineers India Ltd.

We are always open to new and innovative ideas. OGCS is ready to open its activities to any diversification in the interest of the Shipping Industry.

Depots and Workshop Facilities

OGCS heralds the dawn of a new era in containerization in India. As a pioneer venture, it offers the first most comprehensive "One Stop Shop" Container Services in the Country.

OGCS owns Depot premises at Taloja, New Mumbai, having a total area of 20000 sq.mtrs., out of which 1550 sq.mtrs. is covered workshop having all facilities for undertaking repair of all types of Marine Containers including Pre-Fabrication Jobs.

OGCS also owns Depot premises at Saykha, Gujarat, having a total area of 18000 sq.mtrs., out of which 4000 sq.mtrs. is covered workshop. This Depot too has all the facilities for undertaking repair of all types of Marine Containers including Pre-Fabrication Jobs.

Container Repair Facilities

OGCS is capable of undertaking repair, maintenance and refurbishment of tank containers, all under one roof.

As on today, our Depots (each) are capable of repairing 1000 to 1500 Tank Containers annually as per I.T.C.O. / ASME guidelines.

Our Depots have the facility for carrying out the survey, cleaning, repair and periodical testing of IMO tank containers, specially for IMO 1, 2, 5, and 7.

The wastewater treatment plant is installed in the Taloja Depot for carrying out primary & tertiary treatment, and subsequently the effluent discharge is connected with the Common Effluent Treatment Plant of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (Govt. of India) for secondary treatment before the final disposal of the treated effluent. We are also a member of Mumbai Solid Waste Management plant situated at MIDC, Taloja. All hazardous solid residue is periodically collected by the solid waste management company for further treatment at their site before its final disposal.

All the repairs and periodical testing are witnessed by the classification society's surveyor namely Bureau Veritas, DNV, etc.

The Taloja Depot is easily accessible, being located 25 km from Jawaharlal Nehru Port and 50 km from Mumbai Port.

The Saykha Depot is centrally located in the chemical hub of South Gujarat. The Depot is easily accessible from Dahej (31 km), Ahmedabad (207 km), Vadodara (93 km), Jhangadia (45 km), Baruch (12 km), Ankleshwar (40 km), Panoli (45 km), Vilayat (6 km), Surat 100 km) and Hazira (100 km).

The new generation forklift with 20 ft fixed spreader and the Indital make side lifter with 20 ft & 40 ft telescopic side-lift spreader has been deployed which enables stacking of containers 5 high. Excellent inspection services, as per the IICL / ITCO criteria, are offered either at the Depots or at the customer's premises.


ISO composite logoOGCS, Taloja, is the only Tank Container Depot certified by DNV as ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007 for "Repair, Maintenance, Cleaning & Periodic Testing of IMO tank containers".


ITCO logoWe are also the first Tank Container Depot operator from India who has been approved & registered by ITCO as their member. A team of qualified Engineers monitors, inspects and controls the repair quality and maintenance jobs. As part of the quality control, the repaired containers are thoroughly checked storage-wise for any possible defects, irregularities, poor workmanship or improper repairs.
